Model Recruitment

HAUTEUR

A gaze worth looking up to.

We're looking for portrait photography models based in Kanagawa and Tokyo, Japan. Composed, unhurried, quietly self-assured — that's the mood we're after.

Message

We want to photograph women as something worth looking up to — composed, self-possessed, never chasing approval.

Rather than posed perfection, we work with what's already there: a natural presence, shaped only by light and distance.

Portrait photography is our starting point, and from there we build a small, ongoing body of work — at your own pace, always.

Cool and composed is the theme we lead with, but it's not the only mode we work in. We shoot cuter, softer styles too — we're happy to figure out what fits you.

Recruit

What We're Looking For

I. Eligibility

Women aged 18 and over. No modeling experience required — we're happy to start slow if this is your first time in front of a camera.

II. Genres

Portrait photography is our main focus, and most shoots stay entirely within that — if that's all you're interested in, that's completely fine, and nothing else is expected. For models who'd like to explore further, we also offer gravure (usually swimsuit-based) and more expressive concepts, but only ever with your explicit agreement, worked out over LINE beforehand. Video shoots (e.g. for YouTube) may occasionally be requested too.

III. How It Works

Message us on LINE and we'll chat about the vibe, location, and timing. We'll ask for a few quick photos — face, upper body, full body — just so we know who we're meeting. We usually kick off with a casual meetup somewhere public, like a café — more of a quick hello than a formal interview, and it's completely fine to change your mind at that point (just note we won't be able to cover transport if you do). After that, it's a relaxed, easygoing shoot — not a rigid list of poses to get through.

IV. What to Bring

Nothing special required — your everyday clothing is fine. If there's an outfit you'd like to wear, we'll plan the shoot around it. Any questions are best asked while we're arranging the details.

V. Photo Usage

For details on public/private photo choices and how photos are delivered, see "Photo Handling" below.

Expedition

Expedition Shoots

Think of this less as a "shoot" and more as a small trip together, with photography built in. Sightseeing can be the main event and photos just an option — in that case, pay is lower, but it's a relaxed, low-pressure way to spend the day. If you'd like a proper shoot as part of the trip, our day-trip expedition plan (from ¥15,000) covers that too.

FAQ

Frequently Asked

Q. Do my photos have to be made public?

No, not at all. Whether any photo gets published anywhere is something we discuss after the shoot. If you'd rather keep everything private, that's completely fine.

Q. Can I avoid having my face photographed?

By default, we don't really plan around avoiding your face during the shoot. That said, depending on the situation, we may be able to work with shots from behind, silhouettes, or angles where your face isn't clearly visible — just ask. If a particular photo turns out to be one where you're not identifiable, we're happy to discuss making just that one public.

Q. Can I bring someone with me?

As a rule, we ask that no one else attend the shoot. That said, if the person you'd bring is happy to join as a model herself, we'd welcome her.

Q. Can we work together more than once?

Yes — if things go well, we're happy to shoot together again. As we build a working relationship, we may occasionally ask about publishing a particular photo.

Q. How much does it pay?

As a guideline, ¥3,000–5,000 per hour is our baseline for portrait shoots. If you care about the setting or want a more relaxed pace, our day-trip expedition shoots (from ¥15,000) may suit you better. If you're open to it, gravure (usually swimsuit-based) and more expressive concepts pay more — entirely optional, and only with your agreement, worked out over LINE beforehand. Payment is either handed to you in cash on the day, or by bank transfer (if you can share your account details beforehand or on the day, we'll transfer it on the spot). Transportation costs are paid separately, agreed in advance. Any venue fees, local transport, or meals on the day are covered by us.

Q. Is it different if I'm just visiting Japan?

If you're a foreign resident or student in Japan, the same rates and payment methods above apply. If you're here as a tourist, we're happy to do things a little differently — instead of cash, we'll send you your photos and treat you to a meal of your choice (Japanese food, within a reasonable budget) as a thank-you for your time.

Q. Is there a written contract or release form?

Not as a default — here in Japan, arrangements like this are usually agreed through conversation rather than a signed release, and that's the approach we take too. Everything is worked out over LINE beforehand, which keeps a written record of what was agreed. If you'd feel more comfortable with a signed release form, just let us know and we'll arrange one.

Q. What happens if it rains?

We'll either postpone, move somewhere sheltered, or — with your agreement — switch to an indoor location.

Photo Handling

How We Handle Your Photos

Photos may be posted to our album on this site, as well as Instagram and X, but posting is never required. You decide which photos, if any, go public, and you can mark any photo as "please don't use this." If you'd prefer to stay fully private, your photos won't be posted publicly — instead they'll go into a private album visible only to you and to us.

We generally deliver your photos through your own private album login. From there you can flag photos you don't want used, and download your photos to keep. If you have time right after the shoot, we can upload everything and set up your login on the spot — and if you'd like, you're welcome to connect to our Wi-Fi to view them without using your own data. Login details are provided after your shoot.

Before You Go

One Last Thing

To be clear: this page is about one-on-one individual shoots. Separately, we also run photo sessions with multiple models — and we'd genuinely love it if you considered modeling there too.

I. Photo Session Models

Alongside individual shoots, we occasionally run small photo sessions with a few models. If you'd be interested in that as well, feel free to mention it when you reach out.

II. English-Speaking Staff

We're also looking for English-speaking staff to help with coordination, communication, and shoots — photographers, coordinators, social media, and more. Most roles are open; reach out via LINE if you're interested.
